What is Cannibals and Carpet Fitters about? It's about cannibals. And carpet fitters. Obviously. A tougher question would be: "what do cannibals or carpet fitters sound like"?

When approaching the score, James and I discussed the tone more than anything else. Tone can be a difficult thing to capture, let alone communicate successfully. The movie is part horror, part comedy, part action/adventure. Some of the enjoyable horror films of the past: Evil Dead II, The Lost Boys, Dawn of The Dead, Fright Night, had this odd mixture. There was gore; there were scares; there were shocks... but there was also a sense of excitement and a bit of fun. And that's what my task became: to represent the cannabilistic adventure musically.

Just like the story, the musical themes are crazy. Using a variety of orchestration techniques, the score snarls and shrieks over irregular metres. The cues follow the visuals very closely, which adds an unconventional energy to the structure of the music. There are sequences in the film which required composition that blends diagetic and score music, and for this I enlisted the vocal talents of Leonardo Rossetti. And everything had to be recorded within a hectic schedule. Many challenges, but they were all worth it.

The movie's full score is presented here in this album for your enjoyment.
